8 DETAILED LASER TATTOO REMOVAL AFTERCARE INSTRUCTIONS
- Keep the treated area clean and dry. Lightly clean the area with soap and water, then pat dry. Cover the treated area with a bandage and antibiotic ointment the
first three days following treatment. Change the bandage at least three times during that duration. - Avoid any water activities that involve soaking the treated area. This includes baths, pools, hot tubs, swimming activities, etc. Showers can be taken as long as
the treated area is not directly being hit by high-pressure water. - Do not be alarmed by scabbing or blistering. These are very common side effects and are signs that your body is working to remove the ink from your skin. Allow these side effects to heal on their own.
- Picking or popping any scabs or blisters can lead to infection and more serious unwanted side effects like scarring. Apply an antibiotic ointment at least 24 hours after the scab or blister naturally falls off or pops on its own.
- One may experience temporary itchiness and swelling. Apply a cold compress or soothing ointment (Aquaphor or Vitamin E oil) to alleviate any discomfort.
- The patient may experience inflammation and slight discomfort. Additionally, Tylenol may be taken but patients should avoid taking aspirin. This minimizes the risks of bruising or bleeding.
- You should avoid excessive sun exposure and tanning activities to avoid skin discoloration. Apply a sunblock of SPF 25 or higher the first three months after the treatment site has completely healed.
- Patients with stronger immune systems have experienced faster fading. Daily exercise and increased water intake will help boost the immune system and
increase blood flow to the treatment site.
